Katsumi 勝己
Chapter 1
The Khan is Coming
The screams of my warriors are heard throughout the entire forest. Have I led these men to their deaths? No. They should be honored dying like this; fighting for their country, defending it like the heroes they are. I still can't help but feel pity for them and their families, though. Their wives and kids will never be able to see them again.
All of these thoughts are from Nazuke Ito (edit), the leader of this samurai clan. Japan is currently under attack from another clan in China. They are invading.
Nazuke is getting ready to make an announcement. "Everyone! We are going to create a flank. I want the most of our soldiers in the middle, leading the charge forward. The enemy will be forced to gather most of their troops to block our charge. They will not have enough time to react and change their defenses to the sides, where our other soldiers will lead the flank.
I have no doubt that a handful of us will die; however, this could change the tide of our battle. So do not go into this charge afraid or with any doubts. This is for our country! My men flanking, use the trees to your advantage. Now... Charge!”.
On the other side of the battlefield, the Khan, Shaun Kurayami, is awaiting, watching this battle go down. The locals all across Japan fear the Kurayami name. He has no regard for his soldiers; all he is concerned with is conquering the land of Japan. Hence what the locals call him, "Conquerer Kurayami."
The charge was acting out the plan that Shogun Nazuke had told them. They used the trees as cover like he said and snuck up on the army. They got off their horses and unsheathed their katanas, slicing through their opponents. The middle defenses started to run back and help the sides just as Nazuke planned. This allowed the middle charge to advance further than originally planned.
This did not go unnoticed to the Khan. He had a plan if his side were to start losing. “Ready the Hwacha,” he commanded. The Hwacha is a machine that fires multiple arrow-like projectiles, setting anything on fire. The Khan had 2 of these Hwachas prepared on each side of the battlefield unbeknownst to the other army.
“Fire!” the Khan ordered. The soldiers at the Hwachas did as he said. That was the moment that sealed Nazuke and his armies’ defeat.
The arrows pierced the sky, and you could hear all of them cutting through the wind. When Nazulke's army finally noticed the barrage of flaming arrows, it was too late. They aimed it for the heart of the army trying to not hit some of the Khan’s soldiers. The majority of the army was gravely injured as they were hit by the arrows directly or trees from the explosions landed on them or even just flying debris and flames. The last standing men were sliced and killed like nothing as ordered by the Khan.
All but one, Nazuke, who was injured by the explosion, was found and brought to the Khan. They put him on his knees, and the Khan spoke.
“Nazuke, you were a great leader but not better than me. This battle, this day, marks the beginning of a change in Japan. I swear I will conquer it for the sake of my country. Do you, Nazuke, have any last words?”
“Akito will stop you. Pathetic,” said the Khan, as he raised his spear and sliced Nazuke's head clean off.
